Danielle Sebastian's story...
Back up to winter 2015 real quick... when my marriage had hit rock bottom. With my toddler in the back seat, we were headed to my parent's house for the foreseeable future. It was only at this point, when my husband realized that he was about to lose everything, that he revealed for the first time to anyone, a terrible history of childhood abuse at the hands of the church. Â
At first I felt like I had been lied to our whole marriage, BUT I also had a little bit of hope that this was the THING. The thing that I couldn’t put my finger on… the thing that was below the surface of all the behaviors I didn't understand. That if we worked really hard, we could overcome it.
I sure did not know what the heck I was in for.
After looking everywhere for others who were going through the same thing and what felt like a combined 246173 hours of hours pulling my hair out, I realized something… there was a startling lack of resources for partners like me.
I'll never forget the moment when I decided it was time for me to surrender to the fact that I had no idea what I was doing. I needed help and support. Just as much as my partner did. Â
I dove right in, spending endless hours learning about how trauma messes with adult relationships. It was a bit of a hit or miss, but I eventually started to see REAL change in me and my relationship.
Today, our relationship is stronger than ever.  INSANE.
While the triggers and emotions will always surface and never completely go away, we have the tools to deal with them in a healthy way.Â
So how did we do it? What was it that we figured out we needed?
Ahhh...and THIS is exactly why you're here! I'm about to share it with you on this page...(SPOILER ALERT...I DID NOT DO IT ALONE!)
